I love it, thank you. I use to play the TTD when it came to market and kept playing OpenTTD on linux for years, but now that I switched to Mac there was this real issue of finding it compiled for it. Appreciate the effort.

Hi Bas and Marthijn!

I am happy to announce that I have also bought a Reloop DJ 2 Interface edition, actually at the same pace as Bas bought his Controller ed. They gave me a good price (not much more than what Marthijn paid for his), with the advantage that I have an unused product with a full year warranty.

I am really enjoying it so far. I upgraded to Traktor pro, to unlock even more functionality, and I downloaded a forum posted midi map: http://www.reloopdj.com/forum/index.php?topic=938.0.

One question still: did you guys do a firmware upgrade?

Indeed, I think we can all agree on the controller fitting best for people with already two sound cards and the interface for people who do have a single soundcard.

Bas B, I paid 225 eur for a 3 months old interface edition on marktplaats. In my opinion the interface edition is best price/value if you need a midi controller with sound card. I think you don't need the features of the master edition when dj-ing at home.

Hi Bas B. Thanks for your comment!

As an answer to your questions, I do like the Reloop Digital Jocky 2 Controller. It feels quite smooth, the faders operate pretty accurate. My custom midi mapping made it even work better.

Before I bought it, I never tried it out. Marthijn and I really did a lot of research and figured out this was the best option for our budget. Marthijn bought the interface edition btw. I did not since I already had two audio cards available.

The master edition is in my opinion a waste of money if you just do some cool DJ stuff on your pc. You really need to keep in mind when you use this product in a stand-alone setup.

If you have any more questions regarding the Reloop Digital Jocky 2 feel free to ask!

First of all, thanks for the blog post! This comes in really useful!

I have been thinking about buying the Reloop Digital Jockey 2 myself for quite some time now. I am still hesitating between the Interface and the Master editions.

Some questions for you, Bas; how do you like the Reloop Digital Jockey until now? Where did you buy it? And were you able to try the product out, before you actually bought it?

Finally; Traktor came with its own Traktor Kontrol S4, which is really, really sweet!

http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-kontrol-s4/

Since I think I will not use 50% of the functionality offered by this product, and it is quite expensive as well (899,00 EUR); my first choice is still the Reloop Digital Jockey 2 (Interface edition).

Thank you for this very well written guide, got it working perfectly!
Anyway i am wondering if it is possible to connect to the server without viscosity?
I am not really familiar with VPN's and there are several options i can choose from when connecting to a VPN through the default OSX network preferences but i am not sure which one to use.
It works very well with viscosity though but i would love to know the logic behind using it instead of the default OSX vpn connection preference.

Thank you for this very well written guide, got it working perfectly!
Anyway i am wondering if it is possible to connect to the server without viscosity?
I am not really familiar with VPN’s and there are several options i can choose from when connecting to a VPN through the default OSX network preferences but i am not sure which one to use.
It works very well with viscosity though but i would love to know the logic behind using it instead of the default OSX vpn connection preference.

Thanks for the fix! I have had that nagging little message since I had a failure upgrading over a month ago, that subsequently was fixed through a manual upgrade. Love that it was such an easy fix.

You should try enabling debugging mode on a physical android device, connecting it with usb and try running "adb logcat" again, it's very interesting to see all the debug messages and activities on an actual running phone!

Also, you can debug applications on a real device if it is connected. Create a new android debugging profile and select "manual" in the target tab. You can now choose your connected Android device when you hit the debug button, omitting the emulator!

Erm, SVN doesn't have to be started automatically? At least not when you're using the default methods (like http - which needs an httpd of course, svn+ssh and such; the latter I'm a fan off). It's just files, no daemon involved :)

But anyway, svnserve might be useful indeed.

Currently only playing Position 1 and practising the scale as shown in the video tutorial. I still need to figure out how to use the positions when playing in a key.

So if I let say play in key of C to know where to grap Position 1 for example.

I did as far as I remember not modify my /etc/hosts because I always use the VPN ip address of my server, even when I am at home I still connect my VPN. So Viscosity always connects to my VPN ip which is 10.0.8.1

@Bas

Thanks - worked it out now. I updated etc/exports and added the OpenVPN server IP to my share. Now I can cmd+k and mount the NFS share. The only small snag is that I *have* to use my mac etc/hosts file to map server IP to the serverHame. If I dont do this I get an unable to connect (username/password error). So every time I connect, I have to make sure I've got the right IP (either normal LAN or OVPN IP) in my hosts file. This was an issue before open vpn - I just never had to worry about updating etc/hosts.

Are you able to connect to your ubuntu box without mapping in etc/hosts?

Thanks – worked it out now. I updated etc/exports and added the OpenVPN server IP to my share. Now I can cmd+k and mount the NFS share. The only small snag is that I *have* to use my mac etc/hosts file to map server IP to the serverHame. If I dont do this I get an unable to connect (username/password error). So every time I connect, I have to make sure I’ve got the right IP (either normal LAN or OVPN IP) in my hosts file. This was an issue before open vpn – I just never had to worry about updating etc/hosts.

Are you able to connect to your ubuntu box without mapping in etc/hosts?

You should mount using the VPN ip. So something like 10.0.8.1 or something similar.

Nice howto - got OpenVPN working thanks to you! But what next? When I'm in my office I normally use cmd+k to mount my ubuntu NFS share. How do I mount that same share in finder over the VPN? am I missing something obvious?

Help much appreciated!
